Hotel Cipriani Venice Italy is located at the tip of the Giudecca Island, just five minutes from Piazza San Marco, reachable with the private boat provided by the hotel.
As part of your stay, you can enjoy the hotel’s spectacular outdoor swimming pool, lush gardens, and a Wellness Centre.
The Hotel Cipriani gardens envelop the entire end section of the Giudecca Island, located just 5 minutes from San Marco, from where you can get to with the free hotel boat transfer, and 30 minutes from Marco Polo Airport (by water taxi).
The hotel was founded in 1958, by Giuseppe Cipriani, who was also the founder of the famous Harry’s Bar, with a vision to build a hotel within walking distance from Piazza San Marco, but far enough to ensure peace and privacy.
This vision was realized with a plot of land in 3 hectares at the tip of the island of Giudecca, just five minutes by boat from Saint Mark’s square.
The hotel was an instant hit with the customers, providing a relaxed atmosphere, great service and a refined restaurant, all which are the place’s hallmarks even today.
With the popularity, the hotel expanded to adjoining land and built a magnificent swimming pool of 600 square meters. The swimming pool, which uses filtered sea water, is still the only one in historical center of Venice and considered one of the best in Europe.
In 1976, Hotel Cipriani was purchased by Sea Containers, whose president (and founder of Orient-Express, the current owners) was Mr. James B. Sherwood, a regular guest at the hotel. Under this new ownership, over the years, the hotel expanded to adjacent terrains and buildings, which were purchased to accommodate new restaurants, rooms, and facilities.

Today, Hotel Cipriani (together with Palazzo Vendramin) offers a total of 95 elegant rooms and suites, many with balconies or terraces and views to the Venetian lagoon, lush gardens and the famous Piazza San Marco.
Palazzo Vendramin, meanwhile, as part of the Hotel Cipriani, is a beautiful XV century palace, connected to the main hotel through a passage via the flower gardens.
The main building of Hotel Cipriani Venice Italy has 79 rooms and suites, all luxuriously decorated and with views of the lagoon and Casanova gardens.
Of the rooms, 34 are double rooms, all beautifully decorated, with views of the gardens and the Venetian lagoon.
As for suites, there are three types of them, from Junior suites to the Palladio Suite. The Junior suites are very spacious and offer bright color schemes, with balconies or private gardens, with views over the gardens and the Casanova vineyard, the Olympic swimming pool, or the lagoon.
Standard suites, meanwhile, are both spacious and comfortable, with excellent views of the lagoon and its islands, including balconies and terraces.
Finally, Palladio Suite is a one-of-a-kind suite, providing 180 degree views over the lagoon of Venice through floor to ceiling windows. Some of the features include spacious living rooms with private balconies and a dining room.
As for facilities, the heated Olympic swimming pool (32 x 19 meters) is the only one in the center of Venice, and is filled with filtered seawater.
Adjacent services include bath towels, cabinets with locks, changing rooms, and showers, umbrellas, sun beds and mattresses, as well as a restaurant and a snack bar.
The hotel also has a private clay tennis court, located in the beautiful Venetian gardens of the hotel, on one corner of the lagoon.
The tennis court is available for guest use from 8am to 8pm, at a cost of EUR 50 per hour (+10% value added tax). You can reserve the court through the hotel’s concierge, who can also arrange private tennis lessons.
Finally, the hotel facilities include Cipriani gym, where you can exercise with lovely views of the gardens and the flower-filled patios, using brand new Technogym equipment with integrated TVs.
The gym is open daily from 8am to 8pm, and also features (through the hotel’s concierge) a personal trainer service, for exercises in the gym or outside on the island of Giudecca.
