Hotel Pausania Venice is an accommodation within a historical, restored residence that once housed an aristocratic Venetian family.
The location of the Pausania hotel is very interesting, within an area of Venice that is popular by intellectuals and artists, who come here to search for quietness and inspiration.
The hotel building has a significant, beautiful façade in gothic, a “quadrifora” original, from the period when the building was a patrician palazzo of the nobility.

Once you enter the hotel, within the building’s entrance, you’ll find a stoned staircase which leads from the lobby to the second floor (“piano nobile”).
To restore the historical building, the builders made a compromise between modern functional requirements and historical aesthetic demands, which has resulted in a hotel that is in step with the times, yet in harmony with the past.
Today, the Hotel Pausania Venice rooms, elegantly decorated, contain all the modern comforts and amenities that you’d expect from a three star accommodation in Venice: a private bathroom, cable TV, radio, direct dial telephone, minibar, and air-conditioning.
As for facilities, you can take advantage of the sitting-room on the second floor, cozy bar section on the ground floor (which contains a free internet point), and the hotel’s veranda, which overlooks the garden, the place of daily guest breakfast.
To find the hotel, it is located at Fondamenta Gerardini 2824, along the canal of Rio San Barnaba, between bridges Ponte delle Pazienze and Ponte dei Carmini.
If you are coming from Santa Lucia train station or from the Piazzale Roma, Hotel Pausania Venice is easily reachable with the ACTV public vaporetto (water bus) line 1 to the stop at Ca’ Rezzonico.
Once you get off the water bus at Ca’ Rezzonico, just follow the Calle Traghetto to the Campo San Barnaba and finally, along the canal (Rio San Barnaba) next to the Fondamenta Gerardini (for 50 meters), you will get to the entrance of the hotel.
In the case that you are coming to Venice with a rental car, you can park it in the public garage in Piazzale Roma (Comunale or San Marco), or in Tronchetto.
Piazzale Roma and Tronchetto also contain private water taxis, that you can take to get to the hotel. Keep in mind that these water taxis are much more expensive than the public water bus lines.
In terms of distance, Santa Lucia train station is about 20 minutes from Hotel Pausania.
For help, the hotel’s reception is available for you, and can arrange transfers by water taxi from Santa Lucia train station or, alternatively, from Mestre train station first by land taxis to Piazzale Roma.
Coming from the Venice Airport Marco Polo, one of the ways to get to the hotel is using the water bus “Alilaguna”, first to the Zattere, and then walking rest of the way, for 10 minutes.

In addition to the hotel’s own palace, you find several other famous patrician palazzos nearby, as this was the most popular residential area for nobility, and also chosen by its residents for having a unique tranquility.
